Alcohol blamed for triple fatal accident

Lincoln County Sheriff's Department investigators said Tuesday that the March 5 accident on Route 27 in Boothbay which killed three people was alcohol related.

LCSO Major Ken Mason said that Phillip Peters' blood alcohol level, according to laboratory tests, was .36, or more than four times the legal limit of .08.

Peters, 33, of Boothbay was traveling northbound near Shore Hills Campground around 7 p.m. when his 1997 Ford pickup truck entered the southbound lane and struck a 2005 Ford Explorer driven by Linda Farnham, 63, of Boothbay. The head-on collision killed Peters, Farnham and Farnham's husband, David, 65.
