The Boothbay Register - Online Edition

Mar 20, 2008 "Serving The Communities of Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Southport, Edgecomb" Vol 131, Number 12

Celebrate the "Ides of March" by going to a Winter Gathering. That's what the DEYC members did Saturday night, March 15. We had the privilege of visiting the home of Jane and Skip Williams on the shore of Pig Cove. What a mesmerizing view! Looking out the window, you can see Capitol Island and all the way out the Harbor to the outer shores of Damariscove Island…where the surf was crashing up on the rocks.

About 40 members arrived, bringing their upbeat attitudes and toting delicious hors d'oeuvres. Everyone circled the table to sample the tempting goodies and greeting friends. We were happy to see members we haven't seen for a while, like Tom and Dottie Larkin.

The club would like to welcome our new members. Joining the DEYC in October, are Russ and Rita Breton, Mose Price and Cynthia McDougall, Bruce and Jodie Willard, Bob and Marisa Dash, Carl and Jeannie Hamrin, and Mickey and Tracy Cote. Also becoming members in February are Keith and Maureen Berry, Richard and Joan Fleming, David and Peggy Moyes, David and Patricia Gress and Bucky and Laura Reed. We say a huge "Welcome Aboard."

Since we are in the welcoming mood, we want to welcome all our snowbird members that will return north over the next couple of months. You picked the right winter to be away. All of us hearty northern members are tired of navigating through this winter.

There will not be a March mailing. All the information you would have received by "snail mail" will be sent to you on your e-mail and is on our Web site. The only piece not included is the membership card. This will be part of the May packet received at the Commodore's Luncheon. If you need your card before May, contact Lynn Blake (our AA) and she will send it to you. Also, the reservation sheet for the Commodore's Luncheon is included. Fill it out and return it to Lynn by the deadline date.

Our next, and last, Winter Gathering will be at the home of PC Cy and Sandra Seifert in Cozy Harbor on April 19. See you there!!
