Capt. Marion J. Dash
Captain Marion Jones Dash, 89, of Boothbay Harbor, died Tuesday,
February 26 at St. Andrews Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Brewer, she was the daughter of Cressida and William Jones. She
later moved to Blue Hill and was a high school graduate of George Stevens
Academy. She earned a degree in business administration from Beal College
in Bangor. For 15 years, she was employed by Prudential Insurance Company,
becoming a top supervisor and transferring from Bangor to Boston. After marrying Capt. David Dash, they made their home in Boothbay and
eventually moved to the Dr. George Dash homestead in Boothbay Harbor. She was one of 25 women over the age of 30 to graduate from Outward
Bound at Hurricane Island. She also became the first female boat captain
on the coast of Maine in 1955. She and her husband owned and operated the
passenger boats, Richard T. and Holiday, from the 1950s to the 1980s, and
were founding members of the Passenger Boat Association. For many years
she owned and operated the Bridge House Gallery located on the footbridge
in Boothbay Harbor. Capt. Dash was a member of the Congregational Church, Boothbay Region
Historical Society and the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club. She proudly
participated in Windjammer Days' activities. She had a deep appreciation for the arts and was a talented vocalist,
writer and painter. In 1980, she and Malama Robbins established the
Lincoln Festival Chorus which evolved into the Lincoln Arts Festival.
Capt. Dash was especially proud of her Maine heritage. She was predeceased by her husband, Capt. David Dash; and a brother,
Chief Petty Officer Sidney Jones. A memorial service will be held in the spring. Interment will be in
Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lincoln Arts

Robert B. Muller
Robert Blair Muller, 69, of Boothbay Harbor, died Sunday, March 2, at
St. Andrews Hospital in Boothbay Harbor after a long battle with
cancer. An hour of visitation will be held 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 6 at the
Simmons Harrington and Hall Funeral Home, 975 Wiscasset Rd. Boothbay,
followed by a celebration of Mr. Muller's life at 7 p.m. with Rev. Lisa
Berger officiating. Interment will follow Friday, March 7 at 3 p.m. at the
Evergreen Cemetery in Boothbay. Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made in Mr. Muller's
memory to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Center for Cancer and Bone
Oncology, 44 Binney St. Boston, MA. 02115; or to the American Cancer
Society, 1 Main St. Suite 300, Topsham, ME. 04086. Arrangements are entrusted to the Simmons Harrington and Hall Funeral
Home in Boothbay.

Donald A. Orne
Donald A. Orne of Boothbay Harbor passed away peacefully Saturday,
March 1 at St. Andrews Hospital. Born in Boothbay Harbor on February 16, 1939, he was the son of Albert
and Evelyn Orne, There will be a celebration of Mr. Orne's life at The Bistro in
Boothbay Harbor on Tuesday, March 18, from 6 to 9 p.m.

George S. Tatum Jr.
George Sinks Tatman Jr., 72, of Connersville, Indiana passed away
Friday February 29, at his residence. He was a summer resident of
Boothbay Harbor. Born May 4, 1935 in Connersville, Ind., he was the son of the late
George Sinks Tatman and Cornelia (Connie) Dowling Tatman. As a youth he attended the summer Culver Military Woodcraft Camp in
Culver, Ind. He graduated from the Choate School in Wallingford, Conn. and
was a graduate of Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va. Mr. Tatman was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and was a
veteran of the U.S. Army. He began his business career working for the family newspaper-The
Connersville News Examiner, and later became President of Com-mercial
Printing Services in Connersville. With the death of his uncle he became
President of the Winchester Sun newspaper in Winchester, Ky. Mr. Tatman was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church. He enjoyed
cars, canoeing, hunting, fly fishing and a love of snow and the areas of
northern Michigan and Maine. Survivors include two sons, Jamison S. Tatman of Cincinnati, Ohio, and
Scott C. Tatman of Ada, Mich.; a daughter, Sarah T. Palazzo of Fairfield,
Conn.; eight grandchildren, Jamie, Elizabeth and Megan Palazzo, Lindsay,
Luke, Lily Tatman and Emily and Claire Tatman; a sister, Mrs. Frank (Jane
T.) Walker of Indianapolis, Ind. Private family memorial services will be conducted at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the
Hospice program of the Fayette Regional Health System, the George Sinks
and Cornelia Tatman Scholarship Fund through the Fayette County
Foundation, or the E.W. Tatman Christmas Fund. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Urban-Winkler Funeral Home.
