Although town election is still months away, it is time for anyone considering running for elected office in Boothbay Harbor to get busy. Boothbay Harbor Town Clerk Pat Wheeler reported that interested parties have until March 18 to file completed nomination papers with the town office.
Open offices include two selectman positions, one CSD school committee member, one CSD board of trustees position, and one trustee each for the Boothbay Region Water District and Boothbay Harbor Sewer District.
Terms for selectmen Tom Carbone and Brian Schutrumpf expire this year. Carbone has indicated that he plans to run for re-election, but has not yet submitted nomination paperwork. Schutrumpf does not presently plan to run for re-election. Wheeler reports that Denise Griffin has submitted completed nomination papers for selectman. Linc Sample has also taken out nomination papers for selectman, but has not yet returned his paperwork.
Incumbent Larry Colcord has taken out papers for the CSD school committee and incumbent Richard Hallinan has taken out papers for CSD board of trustees. Neither Colcord nor Hallinan have yet turned in their paperwork. Incumbent Alden Jordan has taken out, but not turned in, nomination papers for the position on the Sewer District board of trustees. Incumbent Lewis Curtis has turned in nomination papers for the Boothbay Region Water District Board of Trustees.
Wheeler notes that there is still ample time for any other interested candidates to file. Nomination papers can be obtained from Wheeler or Assistant Town Clerk Michelle Farnham at the town office during regular business hours. Twenty-five signatures are needed to complete the nomination papers. |
