The ranks were a little thin at the Men's Lunch last Wednesday but we all had a great time. There were eight or ten which isn't too bad for a cold January day. We were one lawyer short and the scuttlebutt leaned towards his being lured away by the excellent ski reports.
On the other hand, the attendance at the BHYC January Cocktail Party last Thursday night was extraordinary for January. There were well over 50 party goers and from my observation everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly. Jane Smith and Byron Borst were our hosts for the evening and they were superlative in their roles.
Our next Thursday night bash is on February 21st and we will all be hosted by Fran and Don Hale. The party for March will be at Joe and Brenda Blake's home and that affair falls on the 20th of the month. I'm not sure when the first day of spring occurs but it could be March 20th, be sure to wear your spring frocks ladies.
How about the Winter 2008 Newsletter which went out via e-mail last week. Lynne Nordoff edits the letter from Naples Fla. and what a great job she is doing. How to go Lynne!
We were saddened to learn of the death of Steve Stiles recently. He certainly achieved much in his life including a lovely family. Our prayers are with you Anne. It was also sad to read of the death of past member, Harry Hightower. Harry was a Southport summer resident and was active in our club in the '80s and '90s. May you both rest in peace. |
