The Soup Group is a venture sponsored by area Sunday school children
and supportive adults who are raising money for Heifer International. On a
regular basis the group representing the Sheepscot Community Church, the
Midcoast Friend's Meeting in Damariscotta, the Edgecomb Congregational
Church, UCC, and the Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship in Edgecomb prepare
these take out Sunday suppers. As much as possible, local foods will be
used to prepare take out dinners. Prepare to enjoy a 'cook's night off'
and help end hunger throughout the world. If you have any questions please
contact Deb Boucher 882-4060.

The Town Hall is now open its usual hours: Mondays, 7 to 9 p.m.;
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1 to 5 p.m. Call 882-7018 during these hours. The
Selectmen resumed meetings this past Monday, Jan. 7, 6 p.m. These and all
committee meetings are open to the public. Your comments are always
welcome.
It being winter, and so generous with snow already, our current
snowplowing arrangement is with Scott Griffin, re-constituting a town-run
snow removal service. He's new at it, so please be patient with him, and
know, too, that December was so very generous with snow that our sand and
salt reserves, like every other town's in New England, have decreased more
rapidly than expected. Sand will be a high demand item. So, let us all
hang in there. If you are in real trouble, you can best reach Scott at
350-3001.
In the meantime, those who plow their own driveways, or have them
privately plowed, remember not to heap your discarded snow on the public
roadway. If it freezes, it will seriously bung up snowplow blades and
cause other damage, and besides, there's a State law against it.
