Christa A. Colby
Christa A. Colby, 58, of Portland passed away unexpectedly December 23
at Maine Medical Center from heart failure. Born in Damariscotta on April 5, 1949, she was the daughter of Kenneth
and Jeanette Bailey Colby. She attended Lincoln Academy in Newcastle and spent her junior year
abroad as an AFS student in Turkey. She received her undergraduate degree
from Tufts University in 1971. She then went on to study architecture for
six years at The Ecole Des Beaux Arts in Paris, France where she
specialized in Urban Planning. It was in Paris where she met her husband Bertrand Voyer. They divorced
several years later. Survivors include her son, Matthieu Voyer of Paris, France; two
sisters, Connie Smith and husband Lee of Exeter, N.H. and Cynthia Dodge of
Westport Island; two nieces, Alexa Abbott of Westport Island and Valerie
Farkas of Geneva, Ill.; three nephews Benjamin Dodge of Shiprock, N.M.,
Todd Smith of Orlando, Fla. and Scott Smith of Cohasset, Mass. A private burial will be held in France in the springtime.

Charles L. Hinckley
Charles Lewellyn Hinckley, 75, of Alna, died unexpectedly Wednesday in
Lewiston with his wife Sally at his side. Born April 29, 1932, he was a son of Maurice and Millicent Hinckley of
Georgetown. He was a lifelong resident of the Bath area before moving to
Alna to enjoy country life, making their home with stepdaughter, Susan
Johns. He was an avid bowler, an expert card player and enjoyed horse racing.
He loved animals especially their horse and cat and was a country music
fan. Mr. Hinckley worked as a clam digger, also at BIW, Arrowhart, and
Advance Auto. As a young man he joined the Army and fought in the Korean War. He was
a life member of the American Legion. Survivors include his wife Sallyann; a daughter, Cathy Kelley and her
husband Jody of Woolwich; two step-daughters, Susan Johns of Alna and
Joanne Greenlaw and her husband George of Woolwich; one brother, Maurice
Hinckley and his companion Vera McCollett of Brunswick; a sister, Adeline
Perow of Bath; three grandchildren, Rebecca Kelley of Bath, Joseph Kelley
of Jefferson, and Christopher Kelley of Georgetown; and four
great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held Monday, December 31 at David E. Desmond &
Son Funeral Home in Bath. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Standard Bred

Eric B. Hodgdon
Eric Brant Hodgdon, 57, a resident of Kimballtown Road and known
locally as the mayor of Barter's Island, died suddenly Sunday, December 30
at St. Andrews Hospital in Boothbay Harbor. Eric was born in Boothbay Harbor April 28, 1950, the son of Phillip and
T. Kathleen Hodgdon, and graduated from Boothbay Region High School, class
of 1968. He then went on to SMVTI, where he graduated with a degree in
marine biology in 1970. He was employed as a pipefitter with plumbers and pipefitters union
Local 716 in Augusta. In recent years, he was doing what he loved best,
fishing with his friend, William Sherman, out of Boothbay Harbor. He was currently serving as town selectman for the town of
Boothbay. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Libby Hodgdon of Boothbay; two
daughters, Sarah Baldwin and her husband Jonathan of East Boothbay, and
Kate Hodgdon and her boyfriend Paul Guidice of Cambridge Mass.; a
grandson, Neal Baldwin of East Boothbay; two brothers, Jeffrey Hodgdon and
his wife Rose, of Boothbay, and Jonathan Hodgdon and his wife Deborah of
Boothbay; a sister, Stephanie Wiley and her husband Frank of Boothbay; and
several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 4 at the
Simmons Harrington and Hall Funeral Home, 975 Wiscasset Road, Boothbay. A
celebration of his life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 5 at the
Charles E. Sherman Post #36, American Legion Hall in Boothbay. Interment
will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Boothbay. Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made in Eric's memory
to the Fishermen's Memorial, P.O. Box 304, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538.

Sally W. Juarez
Sally B. (Wire) Juarez, 82, died Sunday, December 23, at Hospice Home
in Fort Wayne. Born in North Quincy, Mass., she was a Director Compensation with
Central Soya. Mrs. Juarez was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist and Down
East Yacht Club in Boothbay Harbor. She enjoyed sailing and golfing. Survivors include her husband, Dominick J. Juarez of Fort Wayne; two
sons, Tim (Carol) Wire of Northport, Mich., and Dan (Judi) Wire of Fort
Wayne; two daughters, Bobbe (Dan Goldowitz) Wire of Vancouver, B.C., and
Suzanne Wheeler of Pinellas Park, Fla.; four grandchildren; step-son, Jeff
(Toby) Juarez of Fort Wayne; step-daughters, Cheryl Cronin of Fort Wayne,
Linda (Joe) Anderson of Cumming, Ga., and Nancy (Eric) Rumschlag of
Noblesville, Ind.; 10 step-grandchildren; sister, Betsey Pevear of
Arlington, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, L. Robert Wire
in 1981; two sisters; and one brother. A funeral service was held Saturday, Dec. 29 at D.O. McComb & Sons
Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Rd. in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Leah N. Nadeau
Leah Phoebe (Nash) Nadeau, 86, died Saturday, December 22, 2007, at
the
Heritage Rehabilitation Center in Winthrop. Born on September 1, 1921 in Port Clyde, she the daughter of Willie
Walter Nash and Hattie (Blake) Nash. She attended Rockland schools. Mrs. Nadeau worked at the Sardine Factory in Rockland, Ramdell's and
Van Balen's sewing, which she enjoyed. She loved to sew, and was a home
seamstress, known for her clothing, and Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. On May 12, 1942, she married Francis Nadeau. They made their home at 61
Flood Avenue Road in Wiscasset They enjoyed traveling in their Winnebago motor home to Florida in the
winter, and they also enjoyed camping and fishing. She enjoyed cooking
homemade baked beans and ham. She was predeceased by her husband, Francis Nadeau; three sisters,
Marion Collins, Dorothy Duplisea and Audrey Bishop; a brother, Francis
Nash; and a sister-in-law, Geneva Nash. Survivors include one daughter, Susan Marie Bixby and her husband, John
F. Bixby, Jr. of Buckfield; one son, Timothy Laurel Nadeau and his wife
Carol Nadeau of Lisbon; two grandsons, John F. Bixby, III of Buckfield and
Mark Nadeau of Bowdoin; two granddaughters, Rebecca S. Martin of Monmouth
and Rachel Nadeau of Brunswick; great-grandchildren; one brother, Elroy
Nash of Tenants Harbor; brother-in-law Raymond Nadeau of Bath; and several
nieces and nephews A funeral service was held Thursday, December 27, at Hall & Bibber
Funeral Home, 78 Main Street, in Thomaston with Reverend Waldon Chandler
officiating. Committal service will be held at the Ridge Cemetery in
Martinsville at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Hall & Bibber Funeral Home, 78 Main St.
in Thomaston.

Helena S. Perkins
Helena S. Perkins, 82, of Boothbay Harbor, died Wednesday, December 26
at St. Andrews Gregory Wing in Boothbay Harbor. Born June 10, 1925 in Fairhaven, Mass. she was a daughter of Clifford
A. Sherman and Dorothy Robertson Sherman. She grew up in Wareham, Mass.,
attended local schools and graduated from Easton High School. On November 27, 1947, she married Frank E. Perkins. They lived in
Wells before moving to Boothbay Harbor in 1955. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Perkins enjoyed spending time at Square Pond in North Shapleigh,
flower gardens, bird watching, and cooking, especially apple pies. She was predeceased by a son, Brian A. Perkins; and by a brother,
Clifford Sherman. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Frank E. Perkins, Sr. of
Boothbay Harbor; three sons, Stephen Perkins of Edgecomb, Douglas
Perkins and his significant other Jill Marsh of Boothbay Harbor, and Frank
E. Perkins, Jr. and his wife Laurie of Edgecomb; one daughter, Anne Sawyer
and her husband Robert of Otisfield; three grandchildren, Heather Oakes of
Topsham and Tyler and Seth Sawyer both of Otisfield; one great-grandson,
Hazen Oakes of Boothbay; a sister-in-law, Betty Olivier of Northeaston,
Mass.; and nieces and nephews A funeral service was held Monday, December 31 at Simmons, Harrington &
Hall Funeral Home, in Boothbay. Burial followed at the Evergreen Cemetery

Elizabeth C. Stetser
Elizabeth Cornwell Stetser, 102, of Wiscasset, died Saturday, December
22, at a Brunswick Hospital. She was the eldest daughter of Eppa Luther
and Portia Smith Cornwell of Manassas, Virginia. Mrs. Stetser (Betty) was an active member of the Girl Scouts of
America, in Delaware County and Tully Memorial Presbyterian Church in
Sharon Hill, Penn., for more than 50 years. She spent many hours working
with the Gettysburg Women's League and other community organizations. In 1996 she moved to Alna. She was active in the Wiscasset Senior
Center, Wiscasset First Congregational Church and the Organ Society. In
the past, she has been active in Grange, Lincoln Club and until the last
few years, worked with the Miles Memorial Rummage Sale. Survivors include her daughter, Janet Elizabeth Stetser of Alna; one
grandson, Keith Andrew Haaf and his wife Christina; two great-grandsons,
Derek Andrew Haaf and Davis Alexander Haaf, all of Batavia, Illinois. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 9,
2008, at First Congregational Church of Wiscasset with Rev. John Potter
officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Maine Cancer
Foundation, P.O. Box 553, Portland, ME 04112; the American Heart

Russell D. Wellman
Russell Dana Wellman, 80, of Waldoboro, passed away Saturday, December
22, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, after a brief illness, with his
loving family at his side. Born April 6, 1927 in Waldoboro, he was a son of Alfred and Edna Preble
Wellman. He attended Waldoboro schools and at the age of 17, he enlisted
in the United States Navy and served as an aviation machinist mate where
he would prepare planes for flight and as a gunner on a PB4Y Privateer
during World War II. He was a patriotic man who was proud to have served
his country in the military. After returning from the war, he was employed for over 20 years by
Abbotoni Trucking and later worked for several years at Pen Bay Transport,
before failing health forced him to retire. Mr. Wellman enjoyed taking flying lessons which continued on into his
love for mastering the art of operating radio controlled planes. He also
had a great love for war movies, especially those involving fights from
the sky. He enjoyed being on, in or near the water, swimming, fishing, watching
lobster boat races, as well as playing Bingo and visit Foxwoods. He was a member of the American Legion Charles C. Lilly, Post #149 in
Waldoboro, the Model Air Plane Club in Wiscasset, and the Wiscasset Senior
Citizens He was predeceased by his companion, Alberta Titcomb in 2007; a
brother, Alfred "Buck" Wellman; a sister, Ruth Wellman McGuire. Survivors include his children, Robert Wellman and his wife Shirlene of
Norridgewalk, Bruce Wellman of Texas, Dana Wellman and his wife Christine
of Turner, Linda Wellman Miller of Rockland, Nancy Carter and her husband
Raymond of Waldoboro, Karen Wellman and her fiancé Henry Schmidt, of
Brunswick, Larry Wellman and his wife Kim of Waldoboro, and Diana
Winchenbach and her husband Thomas of Friendship; 34 grandchildren; 32
great- grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and several nieces,
nephews and cousins, and companion Alberta's four children. Visiting hours were held Friday, December 28, at Hall Funeral Home, 949
Main St. in Waldoboro. A celebration of his life was held Saturday,
December 29 at Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Rawley officiating.
Burial will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery in Wiscasset in the spring. Arrangements are entrusted to Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Service,
