Shelter celebrates love of animals

On Saturday, December 15 the Shelter was filled with live "furs" of all
kind. The annual Shelter Open-House was a huge success.
Dogs large and small came to say hello to their once-upon-a-time
care-givers at the shelter… they came with their new families who
have given them forever homes. And there were other dogs as well, who
just came to wish everyone "merry" and "peace on earth" and "good-will to
all animals on earth" - domestic and wild.
There must have been over 50 people who came through the shelter door
on Saturday - one baby, lots of children, young folks and forever folks-
and all were bearing gifts.
Paper stars were hung on the tree that had been purchased from local
merchants this month… some of these stars are in remembrance of
loved animals who have gone to the Dog Star, others celebrating the
adoption of an animal and others celebrating all the animals in the
shelter who are awaiting adoption. The monies from the stars will go to
the shelter's on-going spay-neuter campaign.
SURPISE VISITS - one of them was Santa of course. But the Friday before
the Saturday party, a goat was brought to the shelter by Animal Control.
The little lost goat had been found wandering around in one of our
villages. The good news is - after the goat asked Santa to be returned to
his home - ho, ho, ho, the owners came by on Sunday and took the loving
little creature back to their barn.
This time of year we must remember all those animals without homes.
Please visit our shelter and fall in love with one of them.
It is the SEASON and in the New Year, we hope to see you.
