The Christmas season is upon us and our beloved Southport Island is decorated with several inches of new fallen snow. The trees are beautiful to behold with their delicate frosting. Our residents have had the luxury of spending a day at home tending to holiday chores and filling homes with the enticing aromas of Christmas baking.
When this special time has passed, and we are looking at the long days of January and February ahead of us, the Southport Yacht Club's officers encourage you to check out our website which will be ready for the 2008 season. Since we assume that most of the members are computer literate, applications for the sailing program and membership information will be available on the Web site to be printed out, filled in and returned to SYC at www.southportyachtclub. org . Hard copies are available by writing to William Jacobs, 36 Fairmont Avenue, Hastings-on-Hudson, NY 10706. This is the wave of the future and we must accustom ourselves to using this valuable tool to access up to date information about the club.
At this time we wish to thank all the members who have given so willingly of their time and talent to make our numerous functions successful. I heard many new members comment how much fun they have participating in the gatherings we schedule. The parents who gave many hours to making the sailing program something to be proud of should be commended for their effort. Our sailors finished their time in the program with fond memories of the excellent staff whose instruction made learning to sail a pleasurable experience.
Commodore, Kirk Leoni and Judy, Vice Commodore, Henry Berne and Leslie, and Rear Commodore, Chris Jacobs and Ann along with treasurer, Will Brinegar, secretary Penny Pollard and the Board of Directors wish its members and friends on Southport a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year. |
