Boothbay Region Garden Club

Boothbay Region Garden Club
Once again the Boothbay Region Garden Club received tremendous support
from the community. The 2007 Festival of Trees offered trees that were
tall, skinny, live, fluffy, specially designed from cork, and even a
lighted tree sculpture. An original watercolor and hand-designed "Twelve
Days of Christmas" pillow were also part of this year's Festival. The
Theme Tree of "My Favorite Things" from "The Sound of Music" was filled
with handmade ornaments depicting the song. Visitors had great fun
remembering all the lyrics and finding the ornaments on the tree to
match.
Money raised from the Festival of Trees each year supports the Garden
Club's goals as the committed caretaker of our community's beauty.
Providing holiday wreaths to non-commercial area establishments,
maintaining summer flower boxes throughout the area, planting flowers and
trees at town signs and memorials, introducing gardening to community
youth, spreading horticultural information and funding personal enrichment
courses for gardeners, are just some of the many activities and programs
available through the Garden Club. We also offer scholarship programs for
local graduates, YMCA camperships, and enrichment activities at St.
Andrews Village.
In addition, each year the Garden Club makes a commitment to provide
Christmas trees, lights and ornaments to deserving families and shut-ins.
Achieving that promise would not be possible without those who support the
Festival of Trees either by financially sponsoring a tree, decorating and
donating a complete tree, giving monies and other donations, or making
ornaments. Thank you to all of the following whose contributions helped
make this Festival a great success.

Making all those ornaments which adorned the sponsored trees at the
Festival and were then given to deserving families, our thanks to:
Southport Central School, Boothbay Region Elementary School, YMCA Youth
Opportunity Unlimited Program - Youth Center, Y After School Program,
Brownie Daisy Troop #1663, and Girl Scout Troops #3579 and #608. A special
thank you goes to the Boothbay Harbor United Methodist Church Youth and
Click, who each donated and decorated a complete tree which was then given
to a deserving family.
The Pet Tree, which is a "benefit tree" realized over $400, which was
donated to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter in Edgecomb and The Paws
Cause, a fund set up by the Boothbay Animal Hospital for use in times of
financial emergency to assist injured animals. Many thanks for each and
everyone's generosity.
Finally, without the strong support of the community, both from here
and away, who visited, purchased special items, and bid on the auction
trees, as well as the countless volunteers from the Garden Club, this
Festival of Trees would not have been possible.
Thank You And Happy Holidays! You are cordially invited to The Garden
Club's 2008 Festival Of Trees during the first weekend of December.
