Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club
Scotty
I thought last week that I might take a week off. There is not any
pressing news on which to report, but today is just right for column
creating; snow and cold and yuck. It occurs to me that our annual
Christmas party will be upon us in just a week. So let me see if I can
make a silk purse out of a sow's ear?
Howard and Dee Wright will be our hosts at their place on Southport on
December 13th. It was noted a couple of weeks ago that they are located on
the road into the Boothbay Region Boatyard so get out your back issues of
the Register and recheck directions. The usual drill is in place, hors
d'oeuvres, beverage, etc. and I'm sure we will see some festive holiday
clothing. The time is 5:30 p.m. and it will be dark. Bring a flashlight in
the event that it is icy.
The men's lunch group is still meeting on Wednesday at high-noon at Mr.
C's. There are still many world problems to be solved and this group has
most of the answers. They use sense in their thinking; two kinds; horse
and common! We should tape it and send it on to the many candidates
running for political office.
An e-mail just came through with the gift of the season. Our club has a
limited supply of our Historical Celebration Book, depicting 112 years of
BHYC history and much Boothbay Region history as a bonus. It was written
by Peggy Chapman with help from husband PC John. It just might be great
for those little Rug-Rats following in your footsteps, a treasure for
which they will thank you many years from now. The price is minimal; under
fifty bucks a copy and it will be charged to your club account which you
can pay off in easy monthly installments.
In this electronic age I have a poem to leave you with.
I have a spelling checker,
It came with my PC
It plainly marks for my revue
Mistakes I cannot sea.
I've run this poem threw it,
I'm sure your please to no,
Its letter perfect in it's weight,
My checker told me sew.
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas. |
