Carol S. Curtis, 68, of Damariscotta, formerly of Wiscasset, died Wednesday, November 14, at Cove's Edge in Damariscotta.

Born in Wiscasset on August 4, 1939, she was a daughter of Carroll A. and Bertha M. (Grover) Curtis.

Since January of 2001 she had resided at Cove's Edge in Damariscotta where she had a great family of friends.

Ms. Curtis loved people and animals.

She was predeceased by one brother, Stanley Curtis on April 2, 1986.

Survivors include one brother, Greg A. Curtis and his wife Joan of Wiscasset; two nieces; and three nephews.

Visiting hours were on Saturday, November 17 at Mayo & Daigle Funeral Home, 40 Federal Street, Wiscasset. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 24, at Woodlawn Cemetery on Birch Point Road in Wiscasset.

Joanne Rice Dresser, 69, died on Monday, November 12, at her residence in Edgecomb after a long illness.

Born in East Boothbay, December 5, 1937, she was the daughter of Bernard and Velma Perkins Rice, and attended Boothbay region schools.

Mrs. Dresser worked in local restaurants and Romar Bowling Lanes for many years, before opening the Lighthouse Restaurant in Boothbay.

In the 1970s she was a loving foster parent to many children. She was a member of Running Start at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, enjoyed shopping and make hand crafts.

She is predeceased by her husband of 12 years Edwin Dresser.

Survivors include two daughters,

Cynthia "Cindy" Fuller and her husband Leonard of Boothbay Harbor, and Susanne LaPlaca of Edgecomb; two sisters, Ruth Rice Lyndal and her husband George of Baltimore, Md., and Roberta Rice Kelley and her husband Milton of Wiscasset; three grandchildren, Angela Haskell and her husband Christopher of Edgecomb, Krystlerose Hodgdon and her husband Christopher and Barrett Fuller, all of Boothbay Harbor; two great-grand-children, Makayla and Natasha Haskell of Edgecomb; many nieces, nephews and a large extended family.

A graveside service will be held in the spring.

Ruth E. Kines, 87, of Indianapolis, Ind., formerly of Boothbay, passed away Monday, November 12 with her family at her side.

Born June 13, 1920 in Carlisle, Penn., she was the daughter of Herbert and Beryl (Love) Tice.

Mrs. Kines worked as a registered nurse.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Walter A. Kines; one daughter, Margaret E. Kines; a son, Joseph A. Kines; grandchildren, Kelly Jo Matuszewski, Jeff Kines, Beth Wurcel-Kenney, Chelle Ebert, Kaitlyn Jones; and great-grand-daughter Carina Matuszewski.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Samuel W. Sproul, 70, of Wiscasset, passed away on Sunday, November 11, at a local Brunswick hospital.

Born in Wiscasset on October 22, 1937, he was the son of Carrol and Elisabeth (Sewall) Sproul and lived in Wiscasset his entire life.

Mr. Sproul enjoyed hunting, fishing, horse pulling, stock car racing, sports, the outdoors and the Red Sox.

He worked in the logging industry his entire life.

He was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie Sproul; a brother, George Sproul; and stepsister, Dorothy Townsend.

Survivors include four sons, Perry, Gerald, Ken and Kevin Sproul; four daughters, Theresa Mullins, Cheryl Thayer, Donna Applebee and Pam Lear; one brother, Jimmy Sproul; one sister, Katherine Connors; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Sproul had requested there would be no service held at this time.

Anna Lillian Winchenbach, 89, passed away Wednesday, November 7 at Coves Edge Nursing Home in Damariscotta.

Born in Waldoboro on October 5, 1918, she was the daughter of Evron Winchenbach Flanders and Sadie Abbie Richards Flanders.

She was a member of the first class to graduate from Waldoboro High School, Class of 1936.

On October 5, 1937, she married Carl Adolph Winchenbach. They were married 22 years.

Mrs. Winchenbach helped on their farm with the many chickens, cattle, dogs, gardening, canning, making jams and jellies, mincemeat, sewing, cooking and pickling.

She later lived and worked in Georgia then returned to Maine to live in Camden. She was active in the Seventh Day Adventist church and taught Bible School at the Maine State Prison in Thomaston and did numerous fund-raising activities for the church.

For 20 - 30 years, she resided and worked at many estates in Camden and Rockport. In later years, she lived at Merry Gardens Independent Living, Health Care Center, and had a brief stay at the Knox Center for long-term care in Rockland before her permanent move to Cove's Edge in Damariscotta where she resided for the last five years.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Lorraine Fowler on July 16, 1981; grandson, Kenneth Fowler; brother, Vincent Flanders; and sister, Naomi F. Wallace

Survivors include her daughters, Claire Clifford and her husband Earle, of Boothbay and Donna Berkeley, of Warren; son-in-law, Kenneth Fowler of Waldoboro; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey Clifford and Steven Clifford, both of Edgecomb, Gina Drummond and her husband Brad of Boothbay, Scot Berkeley of Portland, Carla Eve Thompson of Warren, Debbie Fowler Robbins, Tammy Moody and Laurie Cailer, all of Waldoboro; twelve great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchild-ren.

A celebration of her life was held Tuesday, November 13 at Hall Funeral Home in Waldoboro with Pastor Enoch Brownell officiating. Burial follow in Sweetland cemetery, Waldoboro.
