Edgecomb

Have you just got a little day-glo pink postal card in your mail? By
now everyone should be alerted to the two public meetings about the
Wiscasset Bypass. They will be held at the Edgecomb Town Hall on Thursday,
November 29 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, December 1 at 10 a.m. Representatives
from the Maine Department of Transportation (MDOT to its pals) will be on
hand to explain the draft Environmental Impact Statement. Have you seen
the DEIS yet? A copy is on view in the Town Hall office, the Wiscasset
Town offices, and the Wiscasset Public Library. It is also downloadable
from
www.wiscasset
route1corridor.com
.
We can send our comments to the Maine Department of Transportation by
way of that Web site, which has a 'Questions/Comments' link. Or we can
make them at either one of the two meetings noted above. These public
meeting comments will become part of the Bypass record.
There are a few ground rules, however. 1) Please frame any comment in
the form of a question, if you possibly can. 2) Please be brief; no one
will be allowed to take more than four minutes at a time. 3) Don't
rant!
The ultimate deadline for comments is December 21, 2007, 5 p.m. You can
call me, contact info below, or Barry Johnston, 882-7443, or Amanda
Russell, 882-6634, with any questions about the process.
The Edgecomb Historical Society has postponed its November meeting
until Thursday, Nov. 29, at 2 p.m. in the conference room and library of
the Edgecomb Eddy School, where we will continue our inventory. All
interested are welcome to join us! Imagine, in 50 years, the Bypass will
be part of our history... if it isn't still in our future!
Bakers Alert! On Saturday, December 1, Morris Farm is offering a class
in how to make Holiday Breads! It starts at 9 a.m. Call the Farm 882-4080
or Web site
www. morrisfarm.org
for timing and fees. Then, dusting the flour off your hands and licking
the powdered sugar from your fingers, take a break from baking to taste
someone else's fare... or if you are exhausted from making your Bypass
comments at the above mentioned Saturday meeting...
A Winter Wonderland Holiday Tea is being served at the Maine Coastal
Botanic Gardens Saturday afternoon, December 1, from 3 to 5 p.m. Come to
savor scones, tea sandwiches, strawberry jam, and Devonshire cream, a
veritable British High Tea! Cellist Andrew Richter will provide suitable
background music. Get your reservations in promptly, $15 for Garden
members, $20 for non-members; call 633-4333 for details. CMBG will be open
from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. all winter, except for the specific holidays. Check
out their Holiday Evenings from November 23 through December 21.
Wishing everyone a gladsome Thanksgiving and entree into the holiday
season from 234 River Road, 633-2978,
