The Bayview Lodge of Masons is conducting its annual Thanksgiving Day dinner contribution for Boothbay's and Boothbay Harbor's needy families. With the current high costs of heating fuel and gasoline, it's important to share with the area's less affluent.

Jack Nisbet, Shriner and Bayview Lodge 3rd Degree Mason, is heading up this effort. He and his "bride," Lee, are residents of the not-so-needy Sawyer's Island. As a start, 24 holiday meals are being put together as a "seed" effort. The "meat" portion of these dinners has not yet been formalized.

Nisbet and others are approaching area businesses for outright contributions, or significant price breaks on the meat portions.

If any area business or more affluent folks in Boothbay or Boothbay Harbor would like to contribute to this initial holiday food effort, contact Nisbet at 633-4857.

This newspaper will publish the results of this annual food drive next week, mentioning the names of area business or individual contributors (for those who wish to be recognized).

The Masons of Bayview Lodge will personally deliver these holiday meals.
