The voters of Boothbay went to the polls on Tuesday, November 6 and approved the enactment of the new zoning ordinance with 606 casting a vote of yes, and 282 voting no. There were 47 ballots with no vote.
Article 3 concerned the new wind turbine regulations and it passed by a wide margin of 593 to 290. There were 44 blank ballots.
Town Manager John Anderson said the selectmen were thrilled with the outcome of the vote.
Planning board members Ken Hanson, who worked tirelessly on the document with the other members of the board, and chairperson Kristina Ford, were ecstatic.
"We are so happy that it passed and that it did so by such a wide margin," Hanson said.
The notice of a public hearing to be conducted by the planning board and the selectmen to amend the wording in Section 5, specifically the wording in 5.4.5.2.4 of the ordinance appears in this edition of the Register. The public hearing date is scheduled for Tuesday, November 27 at 7 p.m. at the Boothbay town office.
The proposed amendment is available for review and inspection by voters at the town office. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. |
