Southport

While I believe all property owners have recently received a letter
describing the meeting to discuss the school consolidation issue at 7 p.m.
on Monday, November 12, this is a reminder that this is the meeting that
was identified in last week's column being planned at the Southport
Library. Please note that the location is now changed to the Town
Hall.
If you haven't done so already, don't forget to mark your calendars for
the Library's Holiday Fair, coming up next Friday, November 16 and
Saturday, November 17. It continues to sound like a wonderful opportunity
to acquire some beautiful examples of local crafts for your holiday giving
- or just to indulge yourself! Stop in at the library to see some of the
items that will be available. Call 633-2741 if you have any questions.
Another calendar item to note is the Veterans Day Observance at 1 p.m.
this Sunday, November 11, at the Southport Memorial Library. All veterans
are welcome and encouraged to participate. A small reception at the
library will follow the ceremony.
Several weeks ago I was notified that a canoe had washed ashore on the
western side of Southport. A property owner secured it from damage and
then called me as harbor master. If you know of anyone who has lost a
canoe and can identify it, please have him/her call me at 633-2133. I
apologize for not making this known sooner, but the item fell through the
cracks of my filing system!
Another reminder to include this week is the Brownie Troop 2147 lasagna
supper this Friday, November 9, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Southport Town
Hall. Cost is only $4 per person with children under four paying their
age.
We will welcome Leigh back for next week's column with news from their
latest travels and, hopefully, more bits of news from around the
island. | |
