Mark M. Cameraon
Mark McLeod Cameron of East Greenwich, Rhode Island died of brain
cancer at Rhode Island Hospital on October 18, 2007. The 55-year-old Cox
Communications executive had been ill since May 2006. He was a lifelong
summer resident of Newagen. Born in Washington, D.C., he was educated at The Potomac School in
McLean, Virginia, St. Paul's School in Concord, New Hampshire, and
graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. Following Trinity, he worked for the Washington post as an editorial
research. He then received an MBA, summa cum laude, at the University of
Southern California business school and was then selected for a two-year
presidential internship with Harrah's Casinos in Nevada. He later joined the Los Angeles Times cable television division, and
when it was purchased by Cox Communications, he moved to Atlanta with
their cable operations. Later he was transferred to Cox's start-up
business in the Rhode Island cable market where he became Director of
Product Management. In 2005 he received the Vision Award for Competitive
Excellence. An avid skier and sailor, he and his father won major ocean races on
the East Coast. Throughout his life, he maintained a keen interest in
politics, literature, sports and travel. Surviving are his wife, Lisa, his son, Ian and daughter Shreve, all of
East Greenwich; his mother, Catherine Herter, his father, Juan Cameron and
stepmother, Nora L. Cameron, all of Washington, D.C.; three sisters, Anne
Cameron of Bridgewater, Connecticut, Elizabeth Cameron of Larchmont, New
York, and Nora C.S. Cameron of Washington; two brothers, Juan Cameron, Jr.
and Roderick Cameron, also of Washington; and seven nieces and
nephews. A memorial service will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in East
Greenwich at 11 a.m. on November 10. In lieu of flowers, the family
requests donations be made to Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University
Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.

Patricia A. Carter
Patricia Ann "Patsy" Carter, 60, of Boothbay, passed away on Tuesday,
October 23, at her daughter's home. Born in Boothbay Harbor on January 16, 1947, she was the daughter of
Ernest and Cora Lewis Lowery. She grew up in Boothbay and attended local
schools. She raised her family in Boothbay Harbor and her family was her
life. For past 20 years she worked at Ebb Tide as a cook. Mrs. Carter loved walking and shopping with her friends, spending time
with her children and grandchildren, and her cat Izzy. She was predeceased by her father, Ernest Lowery. Survivors include two daughters, Shari Plaice and her husband Robert of
Brewster, Mass. and Lesley Blethen and her husband Brian of Boothbay; one
son, Andy Carter of Boothbay Harbor; her mother, Cora Lewis Lowery of
Boothbay Harbor; two brothers, Rodney Lowery and his wife Toni of Trevett,
and Ambrose "Sonny" Artzer and his wife Brenda of Hodgdons Island;
grandchildren, Brandon Long of Ft. Lewis, Washington, Adam and Andee May
Plaice of Brewster, Mass., Faith and Glory Blethen of Boothbay; one
great-grandchild, Alexis Long of Ossipee, N.H. A celebration of her life was held Saturday, October 27 at the Barters Island Baptist Church, followed by
a gathering of family and friends at the Barters Island Community Hall.
Alfred Roberts officiated. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donation be made to the
Lincoln County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 7, Edgecomb, ME 04556. Arrangements were entrusted to Simmons, Harrington & Hall Funeral Home
and Cremation Services in Boothbay.

Julie C. Harney
Julie C. Harney, 98, a former resident of St. Andrews Village, passed
away peacefully at Pine Grove Manor, Hobe Sound, Florida, on Friday,
October 19. She was married to the late Michael P. Harney. Mrs. Harney was devoted to all facets of education. She attended Mt.
Saint Joseph's Academy in Brighton and received her master's degree from
the Salem State College. She was a teacher for many years in North Reading
and Beverly, Mass. She was a longtime member of the AAUW and the Marblehead Women's Club,
and was an avid reader and loved to spend time in her garden. She loved
the friends she made at the village and the many activities. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Glenna and Robert Clark
of West Boothbay Harbor and Stuart, Florida; three grandchildren, Deborah
and Kevin Holden of Richmond, Va., Robert and Vicki Clark II of New
Town, Conn., and Betsy and Dan Balmat of Concord, Calif.; and six
great-grandchildren. A service and celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to St Andrews
Village Activity Fund.

Edward Leonard III
Edward "Ted" D. Leonard III of Bangor, passed away unexpectedly at a
local hospital on Thursday, October 25. He was the son of Elizabeth and
Edward D. Leonard Jr. He grew up in Newton Center, Mass. and spent summers at the family's
summer home in Booth-bay Harbor. He was a graduate of Deerfield Academy,
the University of Maine and the University of Maine, School of Law, and
was a senior partner with Eaton Peabody. Marine history and sailing were his great passions. He and his wife
recently commissioned the building of a Boothbay Harbor One Design,
featured on the cover of the current issue of Wooden Boat magazine. He loved to fly fish and treasured time in the out of doors. Mr. Leonard served on numerous boards throughout the state in various
capacities including Board of Visitors for the University of Maine School
of Law, The Bangor Children's Home, Katahdin Council - Boy Scouts of
America, University of Maine Museum of Art, Eddington Salmon Club and the
Penobscot Marine Museum. In addition to his wife, Sandra Blake Leonard of Bangor, he is survived
by stepsons, Sterling Blake and wife Tonia of San Francisco, Calif. and
Boothbay Harbor and Scott Blake and wife Elizabeth of Bangor and Boothbay
Harbor; grandchildren, Cyrus, Charlotte and Sawyer; stepmother, Barbara
Leonard of Boothbay Harbor; two brothers, Nathaniel Leonard and wife Eve
of Valdez, Alaska; Michael Leonard and wife Sissy of Machias; two sisters,
Linda Leonard and husband Peter Flynn of Bath and Richmond and Patricia
Leonard of Denver, Colo.; nieces, Sara, Lisle and Megan; and nephew,
Ted. A memorial service was held Tuesday, October 30 at All Souls
Congregational Church, 10 Broadway in Bangor. Those who wish to remember Mr. Leonard in a special way may make gifts
in his memory to the University of Maine Museum of Art Alliance, 40 Harlow
