The long-awaited elections for the coming season were held after a delicious repast of hors d'oeuvres followed by macaroni and ham prepared by Chef Amy Ronan.

The following is our list of officers for 2007-2008:

President: Tom Nickerson

Vice President: Bruce MacDonald

Secretary: Under consideration

Treasurer: Celeste Brown

Lion Tamer: Norm Irish

Tail Twister: Tom Nickerson

Membership: Paul Greenleaf and Sheryl Frydrych

Directors for one year: Sarah Baldwin, Lew Curtis and Pete Johnson

Directors for two years: Jennifer Giles, Mike Giles and John Platt

A moment of silence was observed in honor of two of our departed Lions, Yvonne Geeve and Gregg Hartley.

The club was visited by eight Lions from the Gardiner-Augusta Lions Club who came to retrieve their gavel which our visiting team had quietly confiscated in April.

Lion Alan Tilton brought a special guest, Bob Blackman, who saved the Club untold grief. A couple of weeks ago he came to service the furnace and found it in gross disrepair. He prevented what could have been a catastrophic event and we thank him.

Newly elected King Lion Tom Nickerson addressed the meeting and told the members that we all need to move forward together—that he wasn't going to be able to achieve our goals alone. This year those goals include increased membership to keep the Club growing, and an improved financial position to better support our charitable efforts in the community.

The Program Committee has been reinvigorated with Lions Roy Lewis, John Platt, Don Solar and Lew Curtis planning presentations for upcoming meetings. The next meeting, October 10, will feature Treasurer Celeste Brown who will go over the Club financial requirements so that members will better understand the goals and the need for more fund-raising.

The meeting on October 24 will feature Maine Yankee Public Affairs Officer Eric Howes talking about the current status of the storage facilities for the former nuclear power plant's spent fuel rods.

Speaking of October, the kitchen crew for October consists of Curtis, M. Giles, Johnson, Latter, and G. Tilton. Kitchen crew members must find a substitute if they are unable to be present. One of our faithful Lions from a previous kitchen crew took home dish towels to be laundered -- We need them back!

Tail Twister Tom handed out fines for those wearing Hawaiian-type shirts in September, and then got fined himself for wearing camouflage-style shorts! Lion Lew Curtis, who was facing several fines for having had his picture in the paper and being on Channel 7, was surprised to have his fines paid by his next door neighbors—part time residents who are Lions from New Hampshire. They mailed in a check! We should all have neighbors like that!

The evening ended with Lion Pete Johnson winning the cheer raffle and Lion Celeste Brown missing the 50/50 drawing.
