Fall Foliage Craft Fair

On Saturday and Sunday, October 6 and 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, the Boothbay Information Center and the Boothbay Railway Village are presenting the Annual Fall Foliage Craft Fair. The rain date is October 8. This is one of the premier events of the season and is always well received.

This year the two-day fair will offer great handmade crafts and delicious homemade food. Crafters will be displaying art objects, dried flower arrangements, wreaths, sweaters, clothing and much more.

Bring your appetite as there will be plenty of excellent food including fish chowder, fruit pies, apple cider, hot dogs, hamburgers, seafood, jellies and jams, cheeses, home-baked goods and much more.

In addition to the many craft booths and food offerings, there will be ongoing entertainment. Music and entertainment will be provided all weekend. On Saturday from 10 to 11 will be Fay Christy, then from 11:15 to 1, Arthur Webster will perform, and lastly, the Blackman Brothers will be on stage from 1:15 to 4. Both Saturday and Sunday there will be a children's area with supervised activities by the Girl Scouts. On Sunday, the Oyster Creek Fiddlers will perform from 10 to 11; Tyler Richards from 11:15 to 12:15; from 12:30 to 1:30 the Lady Bugs will entertain; and then The Space Heaters will close the fair from 2 to 4.

If that is not enough, the Boothbay Railway Village exhibits are open and available for visitors to experience. Exhibits reside in 30 separate Village buildings, such as the general store, one room schoolhouse and the exceptional Antique Auto Exhibit housing over 55 vehicles.

Lastly, the narrow gauge steam train will be available for rides throughout the day. Train rides are available for a fee and admission to the fair is just two dollars for visitors over the age of twelve; all others are free. All proceeds benefit the Boothbay Information Center and the Museum.

This is truly a traditional New England event. Don't miss the food, the fun or the foliage. For more information, contact the Boothbay Railway Village, Route 27, Boothbay; telephone 207-633-4727, or www.railwayvillage.org .
