Sprucewold
The Way, Sprucewold Lodge Owners, Richard Pizer And His Wife Dan
August has been a delightful month with much going on. The Olesons, the Fishers, the Ottos, the McClintocks, the Parrishes, the Romanowiczes, Laddie Drucker and many others have been having family and friends visiting. It is wonderful that we, who own property in Sprucewold, love and appreciate the area SO much that we want to share it with others. Our children and grandchildren spent part or most of their summers here and want to come back year-after-year until they become the proud owners of our cabins and continue the work of the original and on-going rusticators. May it be so. There will be changes, but let us work to make sure that these changes will be beneficial and not detrimental to the spirit of our special enclave.
The Sprucewold Association had its Annual Meeting and President Esta Parrish turned her gavel over to Ed Marks. Ed has the help of Mary Otto, secretary; Donna Muzzy, treasurer; and Laddie Drucker, clerk; and a board of directors of both seasoned and new members: Bob Murray, Pat Moore, Curt Norred, Sarah Stedt, Sharon Ring, Elaine Rittershaus, Esta Parrish and Margaret Schwartz.
The Linekin Heights Association met. The officers elected were Elaine Rittershaus, president, Paul Giguere, treasurer; and David Boggs, clerk. Board members are Jack Angel, Walter Moulaison, Suzanne Marinell, Bob Cronin and Richard Lippincott. Elaine announced that the shuffleboard on the green has been power-washed and the bushes near it trimmed away. Painting will be done before the 2008 season. If you wish to take advantage of the shuffleboard, call Elaine and bring your own shuffleboard equipment. If enough people get interested, there may be a tournament. It is not too early to start your birthday wishes for shuffleboard supplies.
At the Beach Club meeting Kristine Herold was elected president; Holly Fischer, treasurer; Elaine Rittershaus, secretary; Mike Tomacelli, clerk; and Sandy Young, harbor master. John Beveridge, Robert Ewing, Joy Kelley, Mike Tomacelli, James Trefrey, and Brian Wooley are all on the board of directors.
If you have suggestions to make to any of these organizations just contact one of the above people. We are always eager to hear form you. Perhaps some of our traditional activities or ways of doing things are passé, maybe we need games like "ultimate Frisbee" or "piezer," or have a costume ball. Please pass on your suggestions.
Do you all have your copies of "Rusticators In Sprucewold?" If not, Sherman's is selling them, or you might be able to buy a copy from the Ottos or Sprucewold Lodge.
Enjoy the rest of your summer and have a safe trip home if you are not one of the lucky ones to live here all year. |
