Jay Zeamer Jr., World War II Medal of Honor recipient, dies

Lieutenant Colonel Jay Zeamer Jr., Maine's last surviving Medal of Honor recipient and a Boothbay Harbor resident for many years, died Thursday, March 22 at St. Andrews Village in Boothbay Harbor. He was 88.

Rep. MacDonald's Bill on Rite Aid Liquor shot down

A bill that would have required liquor stores to be 750 feet away from a school versus the current 300 feet now in law -- aimed at the Rite Aid near the high school -- was rejected by a legislative committee last week.

Another school consolidation proposal introduced

A proposal that would create no more than 80 school districts in Maine - down from the current 290 - with no fewer than 2,500 students where geographically possible has been crafted by a bipartisan subcommittee of the influential Appropriations Committee.

Selectmen make budget cuts
