Senator Susan Collins, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Navy has awarded Bath Iron Works (BIW) a contract in the amount of $257,473,700 to complete DD(X)/ DDG-1000 Zumwalt Class Destroyer detail design. $79,893,505 for advanced zone detail design was previously awarded as part of the basic contract, bringing the total value of the detail design effort to $337,367,205.
