The Lady Seahawks soccer team lost two games and won its first game of the season last week.
At home against Wiscasset on September 12, the visitors shut out Boothbay, 9-0.
On September 14 at Thomaston, the Georges Valley Buccaneers shut out Boothbay again, 7-0.
The Lady Seahawks turned the tide and recorded their own shut- out, defeating Carrabec, 1-0, in North Anson on Saturday.
The Lady Buccaneers controlled play throughout the game, according to Coach Katie Doughty.
"They are a very good team, one of the three best we will see this year," Doughty.
The Seahawks did have a solid second half, managing more intercepts and going for the ball better.
Cody Orne displayed a great defensive effort as sweeper and goalie Amanda McFetridge was responsible for 28 saves.
The Lady Seahawks junior varsity team lost 3 - 0 following the varsity game.

The September 16 game at Carabec in North Anson was a tight game with even possession of the ball.
"The girls really stuck with it and never gave up. And despite a really hot day, they persevered," said Doughty.
No scoring occurred until six minutes and six seconds remained when senior forward Brittney Markowski, assisted by Aleesha Pinkham, drove the ball home and scored the only goal of the game.
Both the Lady Seahawks and the Lady Cobras delivered a tight game where there were nine saves by freshman Brandie McFetridge (standing in for sister Amanda) of Boothbay and five saves by Carabec.
"Both Brandie and Kelsea Miller (defense) had an outstanding game against the Lady Cobras," said Doughty.
The junior varsity teams tied 0 - 0 following the varsity game. |
