Lady Seahawk field hockey team loses two close games

The Lady Seahawk field hockey team suffered a pair of 2-1 losses this week to drop to 1-5 on the season.
Against Hall-Dale in Farmingdale September 13, first-half goals by the Bulldogs' Danica Massey and Kate Ende proved to be the difference as Boothbay could only manage one goal against Hall-Dale goalie Alyssa Withee (10 saves).
Junior Amanda Glunt scored the Lady Seahawks' lone goal. Boothbay goalie junior Brittany Dickinson had 11 saves.
At home against Mountain Valley (2-3-1) Friday, the Falcons overcame a 1-0 lead and defeated Boothbay.
Senior Holly Yarmosh put Boothbay ahead with a goal with 11:38 left to play in the first half.
Mountain Valley's Katie Doucette tied the game with a goal with just 24 seconds to play in the first half.
The eventual game winning goal was scored by Kaitlin Drury at the 21:30 mark of the second half.
Dickinson had another fine game in goal for Boothbay making 18 saves. Kim Clark had 10 saves for the Falcons.
Boothbay Jayvees win twice
The BRHS junior varsity defeated Hall-Dale, 4-0, and Mountain Valley, 1-0.
At Hall-Dale, Amy Hodgdon, Ashley Lewis, Lindsay Marden and Alli Andrews all scored their goals in the second half.
Against Mountain Valley, Mary Fuller's goal at the 8:05 mark of the first half held up as the junior varsity team won its third game of the year (3-2). |
