A Bold Debut For The Overboard Players

John Van Orsdell

Overboard Players, the region's newest community theater, will defy tradition and launch its first production, The Audition, on Thanksgiving weekend.

It's an off-the-wall showcase of local talent - singers and dancers, high-drama monologs, a gifted accordionist, garlands of bubbles wafting above, dancing housekeepers and, are you ready, an honest to goodness absentee appearance on videotape!

"We tend to kinda go overboard," says president Michael Feldman. "After all, there are no small parts, just really small towns with people of questionable talent."

The Audition is directed by Carrie Langlois and features Alina Blakesley, Ron Bouffard, Sandy Bugbee, Sarah Duggan, Michael Feldman, Donna Griffin, Amber Jones, Carrie Langlois, Amanda Moreland, Garrett Schneider and many others (wisely withholding their names!). The troupe has been working on The Audition for months to create a unique experience - never to be repeated!

The great foolishness kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, November 26 at The Opera House at Boothbay Harbor. An encore performance will be held Sunday afternoon, Nov. 27 at 4.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for kids and seniors. Call Sandy at 882-7141 or pay at the door.

Expect to have a seriously good time - without getting the least bit serious. In fact, the last thing anyone would ever accuse us of being is too serious - especially Carrie and Michael, the king and queen of silly!

Be not concerned. Should you suffer an overdose of entertainment, the bar will be open.
