Boothbay Region Garden Club
Pamela Wilde
There was a flurry of activity and animated energy going on
at the
club's
monthly meeting last week. A successful White Elephant sale was
held prior
to the meeting to generate seed money for the Festival of Trees
(Dec. 2-4
and 10-11).
Guests from the community and district clubs joined the
function and
took part in the savory reception table and enjoyed the program
"Decorating our Homes for the Holidays." Creative members shared
their
favorite way to decorate a mantle, window box, door or wall,
while other
groups displayed traditional, festive and glitzy table for
Thanksgiving,
Christmas and New Year 's Eve.
Pat McMurry reported that five members planted
1,780 bulbs around the armillary at Boothbay Center's Memorial
Park. This
will be a show stopper come spring! The Boothbay Civic
Association has
generously donated funds for maintenance and landscaping in the
spring.
The Festival of Trees is moving along at a fast clip with
members
working on
items for the "Deck the Halls" sale tables. Some are working at
home while
others join the workshop group on Fridays at Karen Curtis' home
from 9
a.m. on.
Window boxes at public buildings should be retrieved and kept
until
spring. Garden Therapy will make tray favors for veterans at
Togus
during the wreath-making session at the Opera House on Thursday,
Dec. 8 at
10 a.m. Soups will be served after work is completed. Tops of
any color
from spray cans are needed for favor containers.
