Bill English
Charles E. Sherman Jr., Post #36's public buffet breakfast
served 79 patrons. The Post thanks them for their attendance.
The next breakfast will be on Sunday, April 24. Please plan to
attend.
At the recent meeting of the Lincoln County American Legion,
Commander "Robbie'' Robinson came to the end of his two years at
the helm. Stanley Wall of the Damariscotta Post was elected the
new commander.
The American Legion Discount Prescription Program partnered
with RxAmerica, has some advantage:
--No annual enrollment fees and automatic enrollment in the
program
--Average savings of nearly 20 percent
--All drugs are covered by the program
--Can be used at all major pharmacy chains
--Savings are available by presenting a current membership card
from the Legion, Auxiliary or Sons of the American Legion.
For more information, call the RxAmerica help desk at
(800)770-8014. The plan is now available at CVS.
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has recently announced
a new re-engineered health eligibility Internet website. The
site is VA's authoritive source on the Internet for information
on veterans' health benefits eligibility. It also provides easy
access to VA's comprehensive health benefits, eligibility and
enrollment and can be accessed at www.va.gov/healtheligi bility.
The March 2005 wish list for the VA at Togus is now available
on the Post #36 bulletin board.
Post #36's membership is now at 98.5 percent renewable.
Unfortunately, this looks like where it is going to rest.
Sick Call:
--Legionnaire and former POW Richard Dill has left St. Andrews
Hospital and is now at Assisted Living at St. Andrews Village.
He'd still welcome visitors.
--Longtime Adjutant "Spitz" Simmons is still at St. Andrews
Hospital. Take the time to drop in and see him.
--Joe Coombs (maitre de at Post #36 breakfasts) is suffering
from a bad cold.
Veterans interested in Federal Job Opportunities should go to
the USAJOBS website at www.usa jobs.opm.gov.
Taps:
Post #36 member Robert Sisco, who had moved to California, went
to bed and didn't get up. Sympathy cards can be sent to his
wife: Mrs. Ann Sisco, 5250 Case Ave., Apt. 5132, Pleasanton, CA
94566.
Post #36's Commander Al Sherman participated in the Portland
parade last Friday which had a lot of media attention.
Incidentally, Al was on Iwo Jima as a Marine the same time the
American flag was raised.
Observations around town show that there are quite a few flags
showing the effects of the winter season. This is a reminder
that the old flags can be brought to the Post #36 hall for
eventual proper disposal.
The regular monthly meeting was held on Monday, April 11. It
was preceded by a great meal of pork chops, mixed vegetables, au
gratin potatoes prepared by Finance Officer Harry Pinkham.
Dessert was a choice of three varieties of cake plus ice cream.
During the business meeting several items were worth noting:
--The nomination of officers for the year 2005-2006 was
accomplished
--There will be a work group to tend landscape cleanup led by
Legionnaire Henry Rowe
--There will also be a work group to erect the new Legion sign
--A meeting of the Memorial Day Committee has been called for
