Sexual Assaults Alleged

The Boothbay Harbor Police Department is investigating two reports of forcible sexual assault that allegedly occurred this weekend in Boothbay Harbor.

Police say they received the first report early Sunday morning, and the second several hours later. Police suspect the same perpetrator in both crimes.

The assaults allegedly occurred near Pier One late Saturday night. Police say both victims knew their assailant.

"This appears to be a case of acquaintance rape," says Boothbay Harbor Police Chief Steve Clark. "We do not have an unknown serial rapist on the loose."

The Boothbay Harbor Police Department is investigating this case with the Lincoln County Sheriffs Office. No arrests have yet been made, as the investigation is ongoing.
